In memory of games that have shut down...
Sadly, like many things, games don't last forever. This page is in remembrance of games that I have been a part of that are no longer with us.
BoomBang.tv
BoomBang.tv was the second virtual world that I signed up to, and unlike the first, I played it on and off until it moved to it's current state. This game, although the game itself was nothing spectacular, will always stay in my fond memories thanks to the friendships that I build in-game.
BoomBang was a virtual world where avatars are called 'kekos' and you create islands rather than your typical houses or rooms. Unlike offering a range of choices for your appearance like most virtual worlds, BoomBang gave you a selection of 'kekos' which you could re-colour to your liking.
BoomBang has not yet been officially shut down, giving players hope that it may one day come back.
In July 2014, BoomBang abruptly went under maintenance, and has not been back online since. Moderators Luz and Tim have been seen online to have stated 'BoomBang Games' as a previous project, rather than current, convincing many players that the game will not return.
Hopefully one day the fate of BoomBang will be official, but for now we will have to wait until one of the moderators give us the truth.

There is a petition to bring back AWOLnow, you can find it here: http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/bring-back-awolnow
AWOLnow was the first ever virtual world that I signed up to - the one that has turned me into the online-game-loving-person that I am today! The avatars were very cutesy, as were the areas, rooms, furniture, pets, everything! When I played the game, I found the player base very friendly but some pages online tell a different story, haha.
Like BoomBang, I first signed up when I was a child. I can't remember how long I played when I first signed up, but it was long enough for me to still remember the appearance of many areas! I did sign up again in my younger teenage years for nostalgia, but didn't stay on it for long. The furniture in areas and rooms were interactive, and the rooms had background music which is now lost since I can't find it anywhere online to listen to. :(
Areas included a juice bar, a club named 'Hot Spot', a graveyard, a boat to go fishing, and a lot more! Something I particularly enjoyed was the fact that there were 2 very interactive areas - a pool and a spa. You could change into a towel at the spa to wear while you sit in the water, and you could change into a bathing suit at the pool - where you could go down a slide into the water and have a swim, haha.
The game was originally separated into two servers - Asian and non-Asian, but towards it's last few years, the two merged into one, when this happened it was very hard to find English-speaking players. Sadly, it has shut down. The facebook page is still up and a few people comment now and then saying that they miss the game and wish for it to return, but sadly that will most likely never happen. :(
