Here's another game that I haven't heard of before - Franktown Rocks! It's advertised as the game for children and tweens where you can make friends and make music. Well it's always fun to try out new games, so let's have a look. When creating your Franktown character, you pick between being male or female, then choose one of 4 animals. The animals look a little strange as female so I guess i'll go with being a boy for this game. After that, you can choose a house. I decided to be a male hamster - and I live in an 'extreme cage'. Nice. There's also a rule where your username needs to me 8+ characters long so I had to shove another L onto Mikhail. As usual, you click the ground to move and there is a map of the city to chose an area to go to. There are a lot of different areas to choose from - each is pretty unique, including an ice cream shop, a recording studio, a fitness centre, and many more. Like Club Penguin, rather than furniture in homes and areas being interactive, you just walk on top of them. Also similar to Club Penguin - and also Spark City World - you can walk from area to area as well as using the map. It's always pretty nice being able to walk across the world since it makes exploring more fun that clicking on a map does. There are many games in Franktown Rocks!, which let you earn more Franks - the in-game currency. Something interesting about this game is that when you first sign up, you are given a free membership that lasts one month. Another thing that is nice is that rather than having an annoying song playing on repeat, you can listen to actual music on a random playlist. What else, hmm. You can decorate your own home - you are given a few furniture items to start off with which you can rotate with the arrow keys, and you can also add more rooms to your house. The furniture shop is a little expensive so I don't think i'll be buying anything for my cage any time soon. There's currently an event(?) where you collect guitar picks - similar to an easter egg hunt which gives you more to do, especially since they're small so you gotta keep your eye out for them. Overall, this is another nice cute game for a younger audience. Although it's a social game, I think it's more of the type where you do your own thing rather than making tons of friends. I'm not sure. It isn't something I would play now but it seems like something I would have liked when I was a child. |
